WHY THIS EXISTS
I built this because I needed it to exist.
I never knew I had issues with fragrances until 2008. I was on holiday in India, staying at a yoga retreat centre installing a pool. On the third day they applied a fibreglass coating and I thought my brain was going to explode.
After that I couldn’t tolerate perfumes, essential oils, anything with a strong fragrance. Every time I was exposed I started aching all over, had a terrible headache and had to immediately remove myself. This made it so hard to travel — and my job was to be a global yoga teacher.
Things escalated after I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I looked for accommodation that would take the sensitive traveller into account. Even eco listings don’t cater to someone with a sensitivity to smell.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a platform where you knew, before you even arrived, that you wouldn’t have to worry about any of this? That’s why I created Low Tox Stays.
