Why we exist
You shouldn't have to research your way through a holiday. Low Tox Stays exists so that people with fragrance sensitivity or chemical intolerance can book a place to stay with the same ease as everyone else. And for hosts who've already built that space, who've chosen fragrance-free products throughout and gone low tox, it exists so the right guests can finally find them.
Meet the founder
Rachel Zinman
Rachel Zinman has been travelling the world since 2005 and staying in Airbnbs since 2010. For over five years she also ran one, a scenic wilderness retreat in an eco village near Plettenberg Bay on South Africa's Garden Route, surrounded by sweeping mountain views and a 150-million-year-old forest. The sensitivity of that environment drew her naturally toward fragrance-free, non-toxic products. It also showed her what was possible.
Staying somewhere like that felt like being at home. She wanted to find that again when she travelled and discovered how hard that actually was.
In 2008 Rachel was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and later discovered she had fragrance and chemical sensitivity. As a yoga teacher, author and global teacher trainer, travel has always been part of her work. It became increasingly clear how few places put health and wellbeing genuinely first, or had even thought about it.
Low Tox Stays is what she built when she recognised how much it matters. It is for every traveller who wants an unencumbered travel experience, and for every host who has put real thought into what goes into their space and appreciates guests who notice.

Trust isn't built through certification bodies. It's built through communication, acceptance and understanding between hosts who get it and guests who are looking for exactly that.
